You can seek them out earlier, but you don't have good weapons for them. Not as fun as the robits in Horizon Zero Dawn they're not as varied, but a lot of people enjoy the horde battles, though they're not introduced til late in the game. The zombies are kind of a hassle to battle at fir st, but after I got the hang of it, it was pretty fun. I haven't played Dying Light- I bought it and it's in my backlog, but I recently played thru Days Gone. Killing zombies had never been more gruesome, or more satisfying. The story is serviceable, the lead character is cliche but likeable, and the main villain is something out of a made-for-TV horror movie.
It’s a game that rewards constant experimentation with the skills and moves you unlock, and provides you with an insane array of mad-science weapon crafting to have a ball with. I loved every minute of it.ĭying Light is the fast-paced, “Mirror’s Edge” zombie B-movie of video games and it stands apart from most other games in the zombie genre for its excellent handle on movement and combat mechanics.
It might be my favorite new IP from Sony. It’s also got a satisfying and consistent tone and pace. It has the slow, lumbering weight and controls of TLOU (in a good way), and a strong sense of the story it’s trying to tell with some really great characters and sometimes great (but not always) writing. Days Gone plays like an open world version of The Last of Us with a heavy emphasis on scavenging/searching for supplies and crafting on the fly.
